Sounds like we're going to go full defense in the draft to get the players Fangio needs

Fangio also mostly prevents us from a total personnel overhaul.

Of course, most of the personnel sucks and needs overhauled anyway. But we're not looking at a total reboot.

Get our DL to play to their abilities, make the best out of Dean and Nolan Smith, and try to focus on the secondary in the off-season.

The Broncos had 14 offensive drives in the game Miami put 70 on them. League average is around 7 drives. When you have an offense that works like Miami’s, your defensive cumulative stats are going to be bloated. That’s why almost always the best defenses are on run heavy teams that chew clock.

If you look at it at a per drive basis, it shows what Fangio was doing. With yards per play, Miami was 9th for the season despite their injuries. With % of drives that ended in scores, Miami was at 32.1%, which was also 9th. Dallas was at 32.0%. Miami the year before Fangio was at 37.5.%

He’s not a perfect defensive coordinator, but the people who are acting like we didn’t just improve today (possibly by a great deal) are out of their minds

I wish, but no way.

Probably didn't help that the other team stole all our defensive signals. Funny how there was such a marked difference after half-time and the Pats offense seemed to have the perfect counter for our calls at the most opportune times.

Probably didn’t help, but our turnovers in that game were the main cause of the defeat. Donny tossed 3 Ints and we had 2 Fumbles. If they’d played a clean game, we would’ve won easily, even if the Pats had cheated.

I was really hoping we would get away from the Fangio system but I guess going right to the source of the system is a lesser of 2 evils situation.  We’ll find out soon enough.

Tbh that was kind of needed anyway for whatever direction we went. It’s funny we talked about after 2020 we needed to rebuild the defense. Here we are after 2023 needing to still rebuild the defense.

So we’re going to continue to run this terrible defensive scheme? CBs 10 yards off the ball, giving up 8 yard passes with ease.. making average to below average qbs look like elite qbs?

fangio defense gave up over 400 yards 4 out of the final 6 games.. sounds like he’ll fit in well here

We should have been going defense heavy anyway in the back 7, and we knew we needed DE as well. Those were all needs regardless of DC.

We still need to get some replacements on offense too. Defintiely wont fix this all of this in one offseason

My new theory is one of Lurie/Howie wanted to fire Sirianni. The other wanted to keep him. So they met in the middle and kept him but with limited power and stripping him of offensive control.

Howie insinuated it was Siri's idea in the PC.  Do you not believe him?

We need to go heavy on D this year.  Make whatever patches we need on O in 2025 when we're (hopefully) ready to compete again.

Could be.  I wouldn’t mind going after a solid WR3 and a larger,  N-S RB.

Maybe some O Line depth.

Plenty of cap room. Needs such as LB, RB, and WR 3 and 4 are pretty cheap. 5 draft picks in the first 3 rounds.... Seems fairly easy to potentially fix.

Good chance Siri figured it would help him keep his job.

Frankly need upgrades at no. 3 wr, backup tight end. Need Rb. If kelce retires either steen or someone to play RG. Like to have lane’s long term replacement but i don’t think they have that luxury this offseason unless they go pick 22 with a tackle that also plays guard

This is my biggest hope in all this is a change in draft philosophy. Safeties are paramount in Fangio's scheme, as are LBers.

Just sign some LBs. Pay Queen whatever he wants.

Well that does seem to be the key part of his job at this point.  Designated fall guy.

Harbaugh will bring Jesse Minter with him at DC.

If there’s a higher rated LT than RT I would take the LT with the possibility to move Mailata over to RT eventually, when Lane retires.

Not sure we want to give an old crusty coach a bunch of rookies though. We will need to plug holes with vets.

Some other options out there. Jordyn Brooks, Azeez Al-Shahair, Frankie Luvu, Josey Jewell, Blake Cashman, etc.
