It's obvious the company line has been to promote diversity and if anyone doesn't like the new product just call them racist or misogynists. The promotion for The Acolyte one of the actresses said Star Wars has always been about the patriarchy. But she attacked Kennedy's leadership as being insecure. I wonder if she felt pressure as a woman taking over a franchise with a perceived majority male fanbase and feeling like she had to get more women involved and when they sometimes sacrificed quality over diversity she lashed out. The fans don't have a problem with diversity, they've loved diverse characters from Leia and Lando to Moff Gideon, Bo Katan, Andor and more. It's trying to force a minority character into a part whether they're a fit or not or it works story-wise or not. That's just tokenism, which is a lot of what Kennedy Star Wars stuff is. TLJ was the most glaring example, where Luke was the only hero who happened to be a white guy (and let's face it they kind of made him a D Bag in that movie) and there were literally no people of color in the first order. There is a prominent female character in the EU whose story if done right, would be a bad ass. From their origin and going forward, interesting and fills in pre ROTJ gaps and would provide a character arc that Disney would wet their pants over. Spoiler She is Mara Jade.
