man thank god for kathleen, if not for her there would've never, ever been a strong female lead in the star wars franchise.

I’m gonna say it… LOVED Solo

Fans don't have a problem with women or people of color in SW. Fans have not complained about Leia, Lando, Padme, the diverse casts in Rogue One, Andor and The Mandalorian. Fans don't like the bad writing, directing and the way they've talked about the productions. For example, an Acolyte actress saying SW has always been about the patriarchy. A few trolls online make offensive comments and they magnify that into the story and label all white male fans.

There’s still time to unsay it.

she is just setting up the excuses beforehand. i mean how dare anyone think it's the writing, when it's obviously a misogynistic fanbase that cannot accept female leads.

Imagine if a man took over a female-lead franchise like like The Hunger Games or Twilight and recast every character with straight men and then released a series of poorly written movies that made the entire original story and characters irrelevant.

And then, the straight male audience they were trying to appease winds up not coming out to watch the new movies because they were never a fan of the original movies in the first place, so the studio turns around and blames the core female audience for not embracing the new male characters.

Some Acolyte chat from someone who has seen the first 4 episodes. in spoilers just in case anyone is waiting with anticipation to see it, but there are no spoilers of any consequence if you are curious. They get steadily more withering as time passes

And there is this from a cast member.  Do they pick the dumbest actors possible?

They don’t have to throw a rock too far to hit a dumb actor

Very true but at least stop them from saying stuff that diminishes their credibility. Disney doesn't need more negativity around their products right now.

Those reviews aren't good.

It's weird because the comments from the director sound good in theory. Huge SW fan, wants to reference old Samurai movies as influence, brought in some obscure characters from old high republic novels, wanted a writer in the room who had never seen SW so that from a narrative standpoint the story would make sense and not be blinded by love for SW. Curious to see how it actually all comes together.

What a moron. You would think a company as big as Disney would have marketing people prep these actors properly for their media tours.

Yup. Apparently he was as bad at whatever the event they announced the Acolyte at.  If he's not the sharpest tool in the case, don't make him do press or get the media outlet to delete the comment from the video before releasing it to the world.

Leia was a strong leader, feminist icon who subverted the damsel in distress trope by grabbing a blaster and taking charge. SW fans do not have a problem with strong women.

No. Far from it. It's sad that modern day creatives do not or will not understand this.  For different reasons, men thought Leia was cool as did women - makes her almost the perfect central character for a trilogy. I can't believe that modern writers cannot get near writing a similar type character.
